One of the most beautiful places to see flowers in Kobe is Tamon-ji Temple in Tarumi, a temple founded by Master Jiraku in the Heian period. Master Jiraku is said to have brought over 3,000 kakitsubata (Asian swamp iris) with him when he returned from a trip to China and planted them here. This mild purple ink is the same color as the kakitsubata in the temple.
